New Membership Proposal
It's hard to encapsulate what was decided, but the gist is:
- Anytime the GM for that session wants to bring along a guest it's OK,
except in cases where there's prior experience with this guest and it
didn't work out. The GM shall inform the rest of HEGGA (by email) that
there will be a guest.
- Anytime a player wishes to bring a guest the GM may decide whether or
not that guest can play, be NPCs, or just observe.
It should be apparent that ideal timing for bringing in a new member
would be when the applicant's "sponsor" is GMing, but because not all
members GM and because a members turn could be several weeks away, the
scheduled GMs should make a reasonable effort to allow a new player int.
- New members should be socially compatible with HEGGA over being just
good roleplayers. The consensus seemed to be that good roleplaying can
be learned pretty quickly but learning to get along with HEGGA is nigh
impossible.
- Applicants must endure four to six week trial period, or whatever it
takes for them to be players with at least two different GMs turns.
Modulo them working out socially, of course -- incompatability there
should show up within a couple of sessions.
- After the trial period the current members will discuss the applicant.
No specific rules for voting (majority, 2/3, consensus) are in place,
the feeling among HEGGA right now is that we'd probably all pretty much
agree anyway.
- If the member doesn't have an email address, it will be the member's
responsibility to make the calls needed to find out what's up. The GM for
that session may call or otherwise contact email-lacking members if she or
he is feeling charitable.
